Apple Puree

The saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is making this recipe perfect for baby, which is entering in a fantastic world of baby food. An apple a day helps in the healthy growth and development of a baby. This baby food recipe can be served at any time during the day.

 Ingredients

  • Apple – 1
  • Water – 60 ml

How to Make

  • Wash the apple with plain water.
  • Soak it in plain water for around 2 hours (early morning, preferably) to clean it thoroughly as nowadays more chemicals are used to grow the crops.
  • Cut the apple into small pieces.
  • Put the apple pieces  along with water in a pressure cooker.
  • Take two whistles and simmer the flame.
  • Keep it for 4 to 5 mins on gas flame.
  • Turn off the gas flame and sieve the puree to avoid any solid particles to remain in it.
  • The apple puree is ready to serve.

Useful Tips

  • Do taste the recipe so prepared before feeding it to the baby.
  • Preferably use pre – boiled water in the recipe to reduce the chances of digestive problem or diarrhea.
  • An apple is source of vitamins, minerals and fibre crucial in healthy growth of muscle tissues, bones, skin and organs of the baby.
  • Cardamom helps in easy digestion and reduces constipation in babies. Hence, add a pinch of it to a little portion of apple juice and the remaining portion be served as it is.
  • Soaking of the fruits for a longer time is more preferred to avoid excessive heat (taasir) impact in the body.
  • In winters before start to prepare the juice, soak the apple for 15 mins in warm water.
  • Apple juice should be served immediately as prepared; otherwise, the fruit will start getting oxidized, i.e., turning brown when coming in contact with air.
  • Always check with your paediatrician before giving any new food to the baby.
