Carrot is a good source of beta carotene, Vitamins, fibre and potassium. Further, helps in digestion, good for eyes and is high in water content. Therefore, it makes a perfect food in your baby health and development. Serve the carrot puree as a snack or as a part of a meal to your baby.

Ingredients

  • Medium-sized Carrot – ½
  • Water – 30 ml

How to Make

  • Wash the carrot thoroughly with plain water.
  • Peel the carrot and cut the required quantity into small pieces.
  • Take the pressure cooker and put the carrot pieces with water into it.
  • Take two whistles and simmer the flame.
  • Leave it for 5 mins and turn off the flame.
  • Sieve or mash the boiled carrot.
  • The sweet and soft carrot puree is ready to serve.
  • Do not add water to the puree. If required to make its consistency liquid or little runny add two spoons of the remaining water in the pressure cooker.

Useful Tips

  • Do taste the recipe so prepared before feeding it to the baby.
  • Select the carrots that are red, firm and smooth skin. Choose medium-sized carrots.
  • Peel the carrot with extra care by removing all the skin. Further, it is preferred not to take the hard white portion of the carrot in the recipe.
  • It is best as a first food for the baby because of its high nutritious content. To be more specific it is preferred to gradually start with the carrot in the baby food diet from 8 months and onwards.
  • Serve the boiled carrot as finger food that helps during the teething phase when the baby wants to chew something. This is because it is so soft and tasty enough to chew and swallow without the worry of choking.
  • Always check with your paediatrician before giving any new food to the baby.
