Pear Puree/ Nashpati Puree

Pear(Nashpati) is a good source of vitamin C, fibre and potassium. Further, pear improves digestion, develop immunity system and is an energy booster for the baby. Therefore, it is good to add to the baby food chart. It is best as a first food for the baby due to its nutritious benefits.

Serve the pear puree at any time during the day as a snack or as a part of a meal. Although, best preferable time for eating the fruits is in the morning.

Ingredients

  • Ripe Pear – ½
  • Water – 40 ml

How to Make

  • Wash the pear with plain water.
  • Soak it in plain water for around 2 hours (early morning, preferably) to clean it thoroughly as nowadays more chemicals are used to grow the crops.
  • Peel the pear and cut it into small pieces.
  • Take the pressure cooker and put the pear pieces with water into it.
  • Take two whistles and simmer the flame.
  • Leave it for 5 mins and turn off the flame.
  • Sieve or mash the boiled pear.
  • The pear puree is ready to serve.
  • Do not add water to the puree. If required to make its consistency liquid or little runny add two spoons of the remaining water in the pressure cooker.

Useful Tips

  • Do taste the recipe so prepared before feeding it to the baby.
  • It is good to start with ¼ pear and later increase the pear quantity.
  • The consistency of the pear puree is soft enough to swallow, therefore, can be given at any age of the baby.
  • Boiled pear has a property that it can be served for another 2 to 3 hours without getting oxidized. Therefore, can carry it in an airtight container when going on a short trip.
  • Simply mash the raw pear through a sieve and the tasty pear puree is ready in no time. Although it gets oxidized too quickly. Therefore, serve it at a short interval.
  • Soaking of the fruits for a longer time is more preferred to avoid excessive heat (taasir) impact in the body.
  • Always check with your paediatrician before giving any new food to the baby.
