 Useful Tips

  • Do taste the recipe so prepared before feeding it to the baby.
  • Potatoes with sprouts and blemishes are not preferable to use. Select the potatoes that have smooth skin.
  • Introducing potatoes from 10 months and onwards is recommended. This is because by that age the baby’s digestive system starts accepting the new solid food.
  • Apply 3-day rule when starting with potatoes. This rule says that feed the new food to the baby for continuous three days. This helps in judging any side effects of that food to the baby.

If your baby suffers from a gas problem or frequent bowel movements after starting with potatoes, then stop giving the new food. In that case, it is preferred to introduce that particular food after a few months. So that the digestive glands of the baby become adaptable to some more new solids.

  • The powdered form makes the cumin seeds easily chewable.
  • Preferably add spices to the recipe after one year age of the baby. This is even recommended by the paediatricians.
  • Easy to carry boiled mashed potatoes when travelling. Serve this recipe anywhere to fill the tiny stomach of the baby.
  • Always check with your paediatrician before giving any new food to the baby.
